正直、いつもこの「生きた英語」の記事を書くのに
苦労しているわたしですが
つい先週、東京で会議に出たときに、
わたしたちのアメリカ英語の違いを改めて指摘されて
「そうだった、私もそんな初々しいときがあったではないか」と
遠くを見つめてしまいました。
若い人に、
学校で習う文法の言い方と 、ネイティブの言い方の違いを学ぶには
どうすればいいですか？と聞かれましたが
「テレビの字幕の部分にガムテープを貼ってドラマや映画を見ていました」
とは言えないので、
「実践あるのみですよ！」とそれらしく言いました。
彼曰く、簡単なつなぎ発言が言えると、
かっこいいんだそうです。
